I have travelled to so many countries in the world, but the one place that really touched my heart is Camp Ohana village in Western Kenya. To improve the way of life of the people there, especially the children, has been my advocacy. I visit this place so often, interacting with the children and ensuring that each visit brings us closer to the fulfillment of our dreams set forth by Camp Ohana Foundation.
Over the past ten years there has been significant transformation at Camp Ohana Village in Western Kenya. I must admit, I could not have accomplished all these on my own. I am fortunate to have been blessed with a solid team, a support system that makes and continues to make this transformation possible.
It is impossible for one person to truly make a difference. It is impossible for one person to be able to have all the answers. For a dream to become a reality, it takes a good team. People working together to make a difference. That is TEAMWORK.
We all have our own strengths and weaknesses, and we need other people around, not to compete with us, but to complete us. The people who join me on my mission trips to Camp Ohana Village do not only help in building the community there, but also helps me grow and flourish as an individual. That is the essence of teamwork. In a team, we need to continuously support each other to ensure that each and every member of the team, grows as an individual.
When we work as a team, the “I” no longer exists, but it is more of the “we.” Certain sacrifices have to made for the good of everyone. We give up ourselves for each other so that we can work together as a team and go forward achieving significance.
