Earlier this month a friend of mine posted on social media the graduation of her daughter from the university. The proud parents were beaming with pride for this is truly a milestone in their lives, especially for their daughter. The end of her life as a student and the start of her journey to the real world.
I see milestones as a beginning and an end. When we were young, our milestones were the day we started to learn how to crawl, talk, sit down and walk. All these were achievements in preparation for something bigger – our growth as human beings.
That is what milestones are, they are stepping stones to something bigger. They make a significant change in the stage of development. They serve as a foundation for what we want to be in the future. It now depends on us, how we make good use of our milestone to be able to succeed in life. Your milestones cannot guarantee you a wonderful future ahead, the ball is in your court. What can you make out of your milestone that will lead you to the path of success?
I have been very proactive in empowering youth. Children that were accorded good education are indeed fortunate because they have a very good foundation in building up a wonderful future. Their achievements in their studies are their milestones. Make full use of this foundation and aim high. Use your milestones to empower others. Do not think that you are too young to make a difference. Everything that you have accomplished in your life serves as your cornerstone in building a bright future for yourself.
